Privacy policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026. This is a plain-language summary of how we handle personal data under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and Rules. Have it reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

Who we are

MusicMarket (“we”) is the data fiduciary for this site. Contact for privacy requests and grievances: hello@musicmarket.site.

Age

MusicMarket is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will delete the account.

What we collect and why

• Account data — name, email, password (stored only as a secure hash), city, member type. To run your account.
• Profile data you choose to add — roles, genres, languages, bio, institute, social links, WhatsApp number. To help members find and connect with you. Social links are visible to logged-in members; your WhatsApp number and (if you opt in) email are visible only to members you accept.
• Activity — posts, connection requests and messages, opportunity submissions, reports. To operate and moderate the community.
• Growth-support requests — what you tell us, to help with your online presence, only if you submit one.
• Technical data — IP address and basic logs, used for security and abuse prevention (e.g. rate limiting). We use one essential session cookie and no advertising or tracking cookies.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers that host or secure the site, when required by law, or with your consent.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, posts, connections and requests are deleted. Security logs may be kept for a limited period.

Your rights

You can view and edit your profile, download your data, and permanently delete your account from the Account page. You may also request correction, withdraw consent, or raise a grievance by emailing us. You may complain to the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved.

Security

We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, access controls and rate limiting. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected members and authorities of a breach as required by law.

Changes

We will post updates on this page and notify members of material changes.
