Finding funding, grants and support
Where to look, how to write a short application, and how to avoid grant scams.
Programmes open and close often. We list verified ones on the Opportunities page — please share any you find.
Where to look
- Government cultural bodies and state academies (check official sites for schemes for artists, instrument purchase, training and festivals).
- Arts foundations and cultural institutes that offer fellowships and project grants.
- Brand and platform programmes: artist accelerators, residencies, competitions.
- CSR-funded community arts projects and festivals.
- International mobility and showcase funds when you are ready to tour abroad.
A short application that works
- What you will make or do (one clear sentence).
- Why now, and who it is for.
- A simple budget with 5–8 lines and a timeline.
- Links to your best 2 pieces of work.
- How you will share the outcome with others.
Avoid scams
Real grants never ask you to pay an “application”, “processing” or “release” fee to receive money. Verify the organisation’s official website and contact details first.
